We the Department of Padiatrics started functioning as one of the Specality department of government Pudukkottai medical college and hospital ,Pudukkottai Tamilnadu since 2017.we have 3 Separate functioning units namely Paediatric care unit, New born care unit, DEIC( DISTRICT EARLY INTERVENTION CENTER) .we are having Peadiatric care unit ,DEIC at Mullur village Pudukkottai with in medical college hospital campus and new born care unit at Brindavan Pudukkottai town.
The department offers primary well-child and ill-child care consultation and immunization.
The department has a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, PICU, and child Guidance Clinic.
The department runs a well baby clinic in department.
We feel proud that our department is equipped with an excellent OPD that caters children from 0-12 yrs of all general pediatric and newborn cases. An efficient immunization centre with all optional vaccines recommended by the GOVERNMENT OF TAMILNADU run on all days. Patients admitted are accommodated in a well ventilated and spacious pediatric ward where good nursing care is available round the clock. Sick children are admitted in our PICU which is equipped with the high end instruments.
We also have a well equipped NICU which cares for all sick newborns from 0-28 days of age, both inborn and out born. All needed equipments like CPAP, Ventilator, Radiant warmer, and phototherapy units are available in the NICU. Well trained staff provides the necessary care for all admitted children.
DEIC provides Medical services, Dental services, Audiology, Speech, Occupational therapy and neurodevelopmental services, Psychological services, Vision services, Cognition services, Sensory services, and Special education sensory park for children 0-18 yrs
we have bed strength of 150 which includes 14 paediatrics intensive care unit beds and 24 neonatal intensive care unit beds as per NMC norms
Our UG students participated at IAP zonal level quiz competition and won prizes for 2 consecutive years.
